The Indian value system has evolved a lot over the years. Many traditional & orthodox beliefs that were narrow minded & impeding the development of an individual have given way to a rational & practical line of thinking. The old society which was plagued by gender bias, caste discrimination etc. has been replaced by a progressive society that provides equal opportunities to all individuals. But there is a flip side to it as well. The values are now more individual centric than family or community centric. Fast-changing lifestyles have resulted in impulse-control disorders, causing impatience. This situation is attributed to the kind of socialization that everyone goes through during infancy, childhood, adolescence and adulthood, where we prioritize material goods over human relationships. The highly ambitious nature of man has raised his expectations to such an extent that any amount of success can’t fulfill it. This kind of insatiable desire is good for growth & innovation provided it is controlled but, if uncontrolled, it can cause him to tread the path of immorality.
